CWOMSZ 2009 – Format Change

For 2009 we have decided to switch things up. A few of our regulars are unable to attend this year due to weddings, family functions, etc. Instead of having a lowering number of teams we have decided to shake it up a little. This year it is “every man for himself.” And here is how it will go.

We will be divided up into four “flights” with four golfers in each flight. The first flight will be comprised of the top four handicaps, the second will have the next four best handicaps, etc.

There will be a winner for each flight. The golfer accumulating the most points throughout the two day contest (four rounds/five scoring categories) will win his flight. The formats for the four rounds will be similar as in the past with the exception of having scrambles for both afternoon rounds.

Round 1 – Stableford & Bingo Bango Bongo (2 scoring categories) Play would be the same and individuals would score points as usual.

Round 2 – Four man variant scramble. One player form each flight would be assigned to a foursome. This round each player in the foursome tees off as usual. For the second shot, the team selects two balls to finish out. Two players are selected to finish out each ball following scramble rules. Each hole will have two scores. You may elect to change your pairings on each hole. Individuals will receive the points for the finish of the team. They would carry those points to their individual flight contest.

Round 3 - Match Play – You would compete with the three players in your flight. This even makes this round more competitive than ever. You will have more of an impact competing directly against your competition.

Round 4 – Four man scramble. Same as round 2 except the foursomes will be determined by the rankings after day 1 (Rounds 1 and 2). Those foursomes would be as follows;

Points will be totaled for all four rounds and there will be a winner for each “Flight.”

This format will allow you to play with almost everyone through the four rounds.
